QMax’s new generation Deepwater Drilling Fluid goes beyond today’s typical “Flat Rheology” deepwater mud systems by providing downhole engineered 3-D rheology. Typical “Flat Rheology” mud systems offered today provide rheological profile that remain essentially the same across the temperature spread seen on deepwater wells. However, these systems are designed for and exhibit flat rheology at ambient pressure, while ignoring the impact of downhole pressures on rheology. TriMAX delivers engineered optimal rheology performance where it really matters, downhole!

The TriMAX system is designed for narrow window drilling operations having minimal tolerance limits between pore pressure and fracture gradients.  TriMAX promotes 3-D performance by providing engineered downhole rheology under realistic temperatures and pressures.  By design, TriMAX allows for optimized drilling performance with adequate hole-cleaning and increased penetration rates while minimizing equivalent circulating densities (ECD) by reducing the progression of low shear rate yield point (LSYP) of the fluid under downhole conditions. The TriMAX system in combination with MAXSITE Hydraulics software  simulations allow QMax engineers to optimize and customize the drilling fluid for temperature and pressure profiles for each individual well. This ensures enhanced downhole control of ECD and equivalent static density (ESD) profiles, greatly enhancing wellbore stability and reducing the possibility of inducing mud losses to the formation.  This downhole fluid rheology control allows for improved tripping speeds, lower overall fluid gel strengths reducing pressure spikes and ability to drill and complete wells previously not possible. The TriMAX system is solids-tolerant with excellent particle suspension across temperature and pressure which minimizes the possibility of Barite Sag. 

TriMAX allows for the drilling of troublesome formations with minimal fluid interference with the internal structure of the rock by avoiding movement of water from the fluid to the formation.  Being a non-aqueous invert emulsion, TriMax has excellent lubrication properties making it ideal for extended reach drilling with complicated geometries.  When there are significantly different formation pressures in a single interval, TriMAX minimizes the risk of differential sticking.   

The TriMAX system is US Gulf of Mexico compliant and designed with a simplified formulation.  It can be used to drill with a wide range of mud densities and up to 300°F (150°C) static formation temperatures, and is designed for minimal maintenance upkeep and stable rheological properties exposed to all common drilling contaminants.
